About Jody

Jody Kriss co-founded East River Partners, a private investment and real estate development firm based in New York City. Jody focuses his energy on executing ERP’s many development projects as well as its new investment strategy. Over eight years at ERP Jody has successfully completed ten condominium projects and helped assemble its portfolio of hundreds of thousands of square feet of commercial properties in the northeast. Other fascinating experiences in Kriss’ career include successfully litigating before the Supreme Court and NY federal courts.

Jody Kriss earned his BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. For his work preserving the Mezritch Synagogue in the East Village, Mr. Kriss and ERP were awarded the Best Adaptive Reuse award in 2017 by the Victorian Society of New York. Jody is a frequent contributor to the press and has been featured in countless articles in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Financial Times, NY Daily News, NY Post, Mansion Global and many other media outlets. Mr. Kriss is also a frequent speaker at conferences and has been a guest speaker at NYU and the Wharton Alumni club of NYC.

Prior to co-founding East River Partners in 2010, Jody was a partner in the development of a 47-story hotel in Manhattan, the assemblage of a 100,000 square foot site in Brooklyn as well as the rezoning of a 13-acre site in Queens. He spent the early years of his career at the Athena Group, where he was an Analyst and Project Manager on 838 Fifth Avenue, a condominium that was the first in NYC to breach the $2,000 per square foot mark in 1999. After Athena he moved on to an Associate role with APC Realty Advisors, an investment banking firm.
